Kaira for political solution of Swat issue

ISLAMABAD: Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has urged the need to create political environment for solution of problems of Swat issue, saying military operation was not a final solution.
Talking to media men here, the information minister said: "The war on terror is a long war and there is need to change mindset and philosophy of people".
Responding to a question, the minister while commenting on problems being faced by IDPs said that nearly 10,000 affected people were being registered while nearly 10000 visa cards were being issued daily aimed to provide help and assistance to IDPs.
He said that Rs. 50 billion has been allocated in the budget for next fiscal year while an addition amount of Rs. 100 billion has also been allocated for IDPs.
The minister further informed that Rs. 5,000 would be provided to affected people through Bait-ul-Mall while the federal government to provide amount of Rs. 25,000.
He said that Rs. 1000 to be provided under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and under relaxation, amount to be given to another member of a family if the deserving woman does not have her identity card for two months.
The minister said that the issuing of cards has been started to ensure transparency and amount to be provided in future on the basis of these cards, saying a center for issuing of cards started in Nowshera. He said that the briefings were being give to the president and the prime minister regularly regarding IDPs,
Answering a question regarding timeframe of on-going military operation, Qamar Zaman Kaira said that it was impossible to give timeframe regarding ending of operation but the rehabilitation process to be started in next few weeks.
He termed the Swat and Malakand Operation as survival of the country, saying so far 1330 militants have been killed in the operation.
